WOOHOO!

BTW the exhaust has to be modified. No way that heavy muffler could
survive standing upright without support,
that's like asking for trouble.

Knowing you, it'll take you 2-3 days to fabricate a rebar support for it
:)

It seems pretty sturdy but an extra support sure wouldn't hurt. I
plan on replacing the entire exhaust system in the very near future
anyway, so I'll probably just leave that one alone for now. It has a
pretty good sound to it. Not very loud at all. Very peppy vehicle.
The first big challenge is to get it street legal. While I'm jumping
through the paperwork hoops for that, I might as well make a few
"modifications." I think I may finally invest in some por-15 stuff
for the pans and then use the rest of my Herculiner on them
afterwards. Also have to fab up some mounts for a front and rear
winch and wire them up, replace the exhaust, relocate the front
suspension stops, swap out exhaust system, install steering brake,
convert over to studs for the wheels, remove current fuel filter and
install the one Tim gave me... and a few dozen other things. Ah, it's
good to have a hobby again. :-)

 I'm only a little jealous,.............just a little.
But hell, My bills are paid, and I've got a good wife.........
Who could ask for anything more. I haven't made any progress on my
buggy in about two years. But it's still a glimmer of hope out in the
yard.

This is last years photo. I guess I did good getting the chassis cut
down and stuck back together, but there still needs to be a frame for
the pans made, and a inner roll cage ..............Slower than
christmas.

BTW - Herculiner - Does it flow out really well? I understand it's brushed
and/or rolled - do the brush strokes show, is it difficult to keep them from
showing, would it work okay on a moderately (otherwise) nice looking vehicle
to hide rusted out places along lower part of the body (after proper filling
of course)?

I guess it's a bad time to ask such questions now that you have a new toy!

 Cool; nice looking buggy.
I'm hoping to get back to work on my bugs this summer. After all, the blue
baja is not all that far from completion, just need to find another sterio
system to replace the one (750 watt!) that was stolen, finish a little
bodywork, & get the seats & door panels covered. Oh yeah & pull the engine
& clean & polish it up again - & repair a gas tank leak.
You folks will help keep me inspired. :-)

I used it on the inside of my Jeep. Yeah, I had to roll/brush it on.
I think it came out pretty good. Here's the page I put together where
I painted/Herculined it. It has a couple of decent shots of the
Heruculined surfaces:
http://jeepadventures.dyndns.org/jeep/paint/paint.html
It has a grainy finish to it, so I don't know if you'd want to put it
on the outside of your vehicle or not. It's been done and I've seen
pictures of it but... you'd have to decide if that grainy texture is
what you'd want.

Is that "go tit" or "got it"? I know it's been a while, but this is still a
VW group right?
