Steaming GTi Mk 2 16v

Guest 23 April 2005 18:52:26
My '86 Golf Gti 16v has recently started steaming from the exhaust,
even when well up to operating temp. No indication of overheating, no
'mayo' on the oil filler cap, no sludge in the water, no
starting/running problems - all of which would suggest to me that it is
NOT the head gasket. The car is mainly used for short journeys. Any
ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Do you need to fill up coolant ?
If not, it´s just condensated water in the exhaustsystem that are being
warned up, no ned to worry.
(Perhaps you should drive a long trip to get it all warmed out or drill a 2
mm. hole under the sillencer to drain it)
