North Korea capable of firing nuclear-armed missile at US: US
official

North Korea has the capability of mounting a nuclear warhead on its
missiles that could hit the United States, a senior US defense
official said.

Vice Admiral Lowell Jacoby, the head of the Defense Intelligence
Agency, gave the assessment during a Congressional hearing.

Asked by Senator Hillary Clinton whether North Korea had the ability
to arm a missile with a nuclear device, Jacoby said: "The assessment
is that they have the capability to do that, yes, ma'am."

He said that North Korea also had the ability to deploy a two-stage
intercontinental missile that could successfully hit US territory.

"Assessed to be within their capacity, yes," Jacoby told Clinton
during the hearing on the defense intelligence budget of the US Senate
Armed Services Committee.

North Korea said this month it had shut down its nuclear power plant
at Yongbyon and was preparing to reprocess the plant's spent fuel, a
move that could result in the production of enough plutonium to build
up to six more nuclear bombs.

Reports quoting a US official said last week that the United States
believed North Korea was planning to test a nuclear weapon and has
asked China to intervene.

-------------

Thanks Democrats and Clinton for making this possible.

You guys are against the Star Wars program, too?

Good Bye LA....

Why ask China? It was likely the guidance improvements given to China
by Loral, with Clintonian permission, that's been shared with NK and
has made this possible.

Not until some independent intelligence verifies Bush's claims. We all

Not too worry if North Korea ever did lob a nuke
toward the US, South Korea would be an island nation ten minutes
later and the republicans would hold the Presidency and every
seat in the Senate and the house, for
the next fifty years. LOL

You were obviously not in the US Navy in the past 20 years. Just
one of our nuclear subs has twenty-five times the firepower of
the whole US Navy in WW II, and we have $#it load of them in the
pacific.

I was being generous when I said North Korea would be gone in ten
minutes. Kim Jung Ill, or what ever his name is, might be crazy
but I doubt he is stupid. That is what he would need to be to
attack the US with anything but overwhelming force. Even the
Russians never had that

No aliases the name is always mike hunt, only the places from
which I post changes. Sort of like if you used your bother in
laws PC to post in the HG, you would not sign with his name
would you? Seems like you would have a point if I signed the
name used by the guys at the station I used to connected to the
web. LOL

It's this simplistic timeline of reasoning that just cracks me up. Bush
calls them part of an 'axis of evil' in 2001 This pisses them off, so they
start a nuclear program (from scratch!) and manage to create a functional
weapon two years later!

WOW! With engineering skills and a national resolve like that, how come
they aren't a major player in the world? It took the US four years to do
it in the midst of the whole WWII national effort, and we were far more
economicaly prosperous even then than Korea is today.

Get a clue. They started building those weapons before Bush was even a
candidate.

Absolutely nothing. Try doing some reading yourself outside of
nonsensical chat rooms. North Korea has been developing missiles since
the early 1960s. They don't need American missile technology as recycled
Russian and Chinese technology have proved quite sufficient for their
goals. Plus their own skill and resolve. Scott look up the defintion of
'juche' and try to understand it.

By your Floridian logic that makes Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford,
Carter, Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, and Bush II responsible? No it doesn't,
that would make even Katherine Harris blush. Let's try Kim Jong Il and
Kim Il Sung? Very good you have arrived at the correct answer. BTW
neither of them are Democrats. Or Republicans for that matter.

Try a little truth instead of pointy headed right wing smear tactics.

Scott look up the defintion of > >'juche' and try to understand it.> >
By your Floridian logic that makes Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, > >Carter, Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, and Bush II responsible? No it doesn't, > >that would make even Katherine Harris blush. Let's try Kim Jong Il and > >Kim Il Sung? Very good you have arrived at the correct answer. BTW > >neither of them are Democrats. Or Republicans for that matter.> >

--> Scott in Florida>

And millions of others. Self-serving partisan nonsense doesn't
masquerade well as the truth. Its taint by greed and self interest is
readily apparent. Truth requires evidence. Accusation without evidence
is merely slander. But it's easier to push the buttons of the ignorant
than engage them in intellectual discourse.

conservative." - WSB
