Spark Plug Heat Range - '84 GM V6 2.8L

LoadHawg 24 April 2005 12:10:51

My '84 Chevy 2.8L V6 calls for an AC R43TS. (Gap .045)

Background: In my experience the R45T is a better choices (heat range) for my old early 1970s SBC 350 V8 (OE is R44T).
Based on that, I'm wondering if the SAME is true for the 84 2.8L V6??? E.g. Am considering stepping up to an R44TS for
example in the V6. The car (Firebird) is predominately driven in highway cruising (almost no stop and go city driving).

Q: Anybody looked closely at heat ranges for the V6s or considered an R44TS or equivalent instead of the OE R43TS or
equivalent?

thanks!

Do you have a reason for this change? Or is it because you can ?

That one's old enough to have a lot of miles on the clock.
Are you thinking of changing to hotter plugs because they're fouling?
Hotter plugs are NOT a remedy for oil burning. If the engine
is worn to that point, you should weigh the relative benefits of
repair or replacement.
