The ATF cools through a separate loop within the radiator, so a catastrophe
in the water side would not necessarily entail an ATF loss. It is possible,
of course.

When the repairer removed the radiator, he or she would have to disconnect
the
AT lines, and some fluid will be lost. Should have been checked and topped
up if necessary.

Possible? Yes. Likely? No. The Tranny-cooler in most radiatiors is
basically nothing more than a loop of tubing sitting in the water bath
dumping heat to the water for the radiator to get rid of. The radiator
itself blowing shouldn't have any impact on this loop of tubing or its
integrity, even if every drop of water in the system is lost - You
should end up with no loss of ATF due to the radiator blowing up. Losses
during the REPAIR process, on the other hand, might be substantial,
since to fix the radiator, the lines from the tranny are going to have
to be opened, which could conceivably result in a major part of the
tranny fluid leaking out. In that case, I'd fully expect that the
radiator shop would take appropriate steps to prevent it happening, and
if any was lost, to refill things as needed before returning the car as
"fixed".
