Alternator ID, 91 Prizm

 After browsing thru this forum for a couple hours, I've figured that the
alternator issues with my 91 Prizm might be solved by replacing the
brushes.
I can't find any label on the alternator to tell if it's the Nippon Denso
(most likely, I understand) or Delco. Is there an easy way to ID by
appearance?
And what's the basic procedure for replacing brushes?
This is the base model 4 dr, 3 spd AT with SOHC L4.
