Diesel Performance

Hi, just wondering if anyone here has a diesel pick-up and if so have
they done any work to them? I am very interested in diesel pick-ups and
once I am out of school will be looking at getting a 98 1/2 to 2002
regular cab long box cummins. I know that injectors, chips, exhaust and
propane are all that is really needed to make amazing power out of
these motors.

Not sure you need any mods except re-tuned. Those engines are seriously
de-tuned for the pick-up truck application.

You can't 'idiot proof' anything....every time you try, they just make
better idiots.

They are kinda de-tuned as they are used in motor homes, but you can
get the fuel system, rail and injectors off of the motor homes and put
it on. Chipping them is re-tuning them this day in age. I have heard of
600-700hp and 1100ft/lbs without spending a ton of money.

What transmission does he have? The automatic is absolutely garbadge,
as per dodge tranny's usually are and I have heard that the 5 spd
aren't even that good from 981/2-02, just can't handle the torque of
the diesel. The optional heavy duty 6 spd on the other hand is pretty
good, I would just get a new clutch if I was making good power like
aforementioned.
Nice truck, good 'ole 12 valve with the mechanicl pump, easy to bump up
fuel delivery in those.
