 I would like to know the following about changing the headlight bulb(s)
on a 1992 Toyota Corolla 4-door sedan:

1. Is it one 12Volt H-4 bulb per headlight?

2. Does one need any special tools besides hands, screwdriver and
pliers to change the bulb?

1 per beam! <Yes>

not seperate bulbs - 1, H-4 bulb = a 2 filiment bulb = low/high beam!
