| 2001 GP GT Catalytic Convertor Mac59 08:43:00 |
| | Started noticing that it would not shift into passing gear at cruising speed. Eventually lost power completely under normal driving conditions. Took it to our GM Dealer they said faulty fuel pump. Pressure was 47lbs. Further diagnotic tests at home, (I am ASE certified) showed a clogged cat. Took it to a different GM dealership with my diagnosis, and this dealership said there is a 10yr. 120K warranty for CC. The CC was replaced and the car runs great. It never hurts to run further tests. First dealer wanted to put in new fuel pump because they didn't want to go the extra mile. Are we glad we brought it home and checked into it further. Saved us a whole lot of bucks.

Now it wont start unless I put the pedal to the floor and even then it runs really rough then as soon as I let off it stalls. I have replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, tps, computer, prom chip, idle air control, fuel injector, new plugs, new wires, and tested O2 sensors, map sensor, and egr valve. I'm getting spark and plenty of fuel, in fact I think its running rich. Any ideas on what I should do next would help a lot. thanks.

| 3.1 pontiac auto trans problem Guest 02:56:48 |
| | I have a 1990 pontiac firebird with a 3.1 liter v6 engine in it. It has an automatic transmission in it. I believe my torque converter is not locking up in my overdrive gear. The car will shift fine through all of the gears just when i try to put it on cruise or have it on the intersate it doesnt lock up and the rpm jump about 2 to 3000 rpm. Any advice or option that would fix this problem will be welcomed? The only thing i have noticed was it runs cooler so i was going to change the thermostat to see if that had anything to do with it |

01 Grand AM Low Coolant Light hulagrily22 02:22:27 |
| | My 2001 Grand Am has about 130,000 on it. I just recently had the coolant flushed and replaced and pressure tested. They found no leaks, however, I keep having to replace the coolant in the overflow tank. It is not leaking anywhere. The Low Coolant light comes on after about 3-7 days of driving the car. Where is the coolant going and how can I get this fixed and how much does it usually cost? |

My rearview mirror fell off of my 97 grand prix... Florida sun got to it?? Anyway, I have repaired other rearview mirrors with the rearview glue, etc., but I can't figure out how to get the little mounting button off of the mirror mount. It is surrounded with cosmetic stuff that looks to either be snapped on or ?? How can I get the little plate off? I can't get to it to clean it well, with it on the mirror.
Thanks,

| | Ok, so I replaced the bulbs, and the stop light switch, but the lights are still not turning on. I also removed the flasher relay, after I reinstalled it (because part will need to be ordered) the left side slowed back down to normal. Any other suggestions? I am lost.

| traction control problem Guest 22:04:22 |
| | 2001 Bonny - After 10 min of high speed driving, the low traction light comes on with a slight pull from the left front wheel, like the trac control was trying to correct a problem. Goes away in 1 second. Re-occurs every 20 minutes or so. Any ideas what's wrong?

| Re: Worth Fixing? Les Benn 20:53:12 |
| | If you are having lots of oil leaks are you sure the valve cover is not warped and that you are correctly toquing it down when you replace the gasket? Make sure too to get the top of the head perfectly clean leaving no old oil or gasket material on the head. If the valve cover is warped go get one from a bone yard. did you notice any carbon build up inside the EGR Valve? Did you clean that out too? If the wires are older than 3 years they probably need to be replaced.
Definitely put some STP Gas treatment or something in your fuel tank for a few tanks. if there is a lot of crap in the fuel system change the fuel filter too.

| pontiac rear end locking up EdandMarg 18:02:38 |
| | Hi, I have a 1990 pontiac tempest 6 cyl. It has a weird problem whith the rear wheels or something locking up. When first started and reversed out of the drive way and the brakes applied the rear passenger side raises up several inches. If the vehicle is then driven forward and the brakes applied it lurches to one side and the rear wheels appear to lock. If the vehicle is driven for a few blocks it then perfoms normally. Sometimes there seems to be a slight hot or burning smell. The rear brake shoes are in good shape. Emergency brake working correctly and new shocks have been installed. The local shop does not seem to know what is wrong. Does anybody have any ideas for a fix?

| Heater control valve location on 94 Grand Am Jasolution 07:58:54 |
| | Could someone tell me where I can find the heater control valve on a 94 Grand Am 2.3L with A/C? I believe that I may have a broken vacuum line, bad heater control valve or bad connection. No matter which position I turn the control knob, air always flows through the vents; I cannot direct air through the defrost or floor.
Is the heater control valve the correct place to start troubleshooting?
Thanks!

| | I'm not really a whiz when it comes to electronics. Especially whe the electronics have been tampered with - like adding a remote starter.
I'm not sure how a remote starter is hooked up but I'd check the remote starter connections first of all and make sure there hooked up right & connections clean & tight..
Good Luck

| Ecotech questions GrtArtiste 23:06:31 |
| | Considering purchase of '06 G6 with 2.2 Ecotech. What is the manufacturer-recommended engine oil viscosity? If other than 5w30, is 5w30 approved for use in this engine? And does this engine have a typical spin-on engine oil filter? I seem to recall that a 90's 2.5 L4 had a cartridge-in-a-canister filter. Thanks in advance.

| My 1989 Pontiac 6000le 2.8 liter lost it's acceleration Ss17goku 05:05:21 |
| | My pontiac 6000 lost it's acceleration, like it takes 3 minutes just to get up to 40 mph. I tryed a couple things to it. I thought the the catylatic converter was clogged, or the muffler. but right now none of those are even on the car. and it still is won't accelerate right. I just seems like it isn't getting enough gas, but I know the fuel pump is good. So if someone could give me some ideas of what else I could do to fix it let me know.

| 2002 pontiac grand prix - abs dash lamp and traction control Guest 14:44:11 |
| | After a recent oil change and tire rotation the abs dash lamp comes on and the traction control turns off after about 10 or 15 minutes of driving. This was not happening prior to the oil change / tire rotation but started to happen on the drive from the service center immediatly after the service. Did the technician neglect to reconnect a wire or hose. The last 2 times I went to this service center, the technician neglected to reconnect the emission sensor wire on the air intake causing the "service engine soon" lamp to come on. |

| 2004 Grand Prix Stalling Jt 07:30:09 |
| | My wife has a 2004 Grand Prix GT2 with the 3800 series III normally aspirated engine (approx. 23K miles). With increasing frequency, it has begun stalling immediately after being started (usually when motor has not been warmed up).
Also, and more troubling, it has twice completely stalled while my wife was driving the car (car was warmed up both times).
We have been to two dealers-----neither found any fault codes. The service advisor hooked up a data capture device to the car and drove it home, and he was able to reproduce the problem----they then diagnosed the fuel pump and replaced it---sounded like a reasonable diagnosis and cure to me.
However, we just tried to start the car and it did it AGAIN! Has anyone run into this problem or have any ideas what might be causing this?
Thanks in advance JT
