 POST RACE NOTES:

* Scott Kalitta, from Snead Island, Fla., earned his 17th career
victory and first-ever at Pomona Raceway when he outran Doug Herbert in
the final round. Kalitta powered his Mac Tools/Jesse James dragster to
the finish line in 4.487 seconds at 328.46 mph to defeat Herbert's
Snap-on Tools dragster, which suffered an engine misfire and slowed to a
time of 5.371 at 181.84.

 Post Race Notes:

* Melanie Troxel became the eighth woman to win an NHRA national event
in a professional category, and the sixth woman to win in Top Fuel. She
is the fourth woman to win a Top Fuel title at the CARQUEST
Winternationals (Shelly Anderson, '94; Lori Johns, '90; and Shirley
Muldowney, '83 and '80). She defeated David Baca in the final round.
Troxel drove her Skull Gear dragster to a 4.582 at 321.65 to take the
win over Baca, whose Mach 1 dragster lost traction and crossed the
finish line in 8.677 at 91.43.

 NHRA POWERADE SERIES POST RACE NOTES:

* J.R. Todd, from Avon, Ind., powered his Skull Shine dragster to his
fourth career victory by defeating Brandon Bernstein in the final round.
Todd won with a time of 4.482 seconds at 324.98 mph. It was Todd's
fourth victory in five final round appearances in the last 12 races
dating back to last season. He becomes the first African-American driver
in a pro category to win the Winternationals.
