The Finn opened the Swedish Rally with a slim lead under snowy
conditions -- the type that Marcus Gronholm excels on. The Peugeot driver
just edged Subaru's Petter Solberg by two-tenths of a second on the first
day covering 106.48 kilometers.

The opening day of the second round of the World Rally Championship this
season had the usual cast of characters with one surprise. Mitsubishi's
Gianluigi Galli ended Friday's slippery route in fourth overall, 18.9-seconds adrift
of Gronholm.
