Sam Hornish, Jr. snagged the pole by a mere 0.0311-seconds over Danica
Patrick in the only race outside of the United States for the Indy Racing
League IndyCar Series. Hornish turned a lap at 26.726 seconds with an
average speed of 204.739 miles per hour on the 1.5-mile Twin Ring Motegi
oval.

The Marlboro Team Penske driver gave Toyota the bragging rights during Friday's
qualifying session at the Honda owned circuit.
