Danilo Dirani dominated qualifying for round one of the British Formula 3 International Series at Donington Park to put the only Championship class Lola chassis on pole position around the National circuit. The P1 Motorsport driver bounced back from lost time in testing to control the first session of the day.

Dirani went fastest early on and then soon lowered the benchmark to 1:02.784s. He then watched the final few minutes from the pitwall as second-placed Mark Asmer tried hard to improve. Over the latter half of his 26-lap stint Asmer etched away at the leading time and on his final lap set a time just one-hundredth of a second slower.
