Distributor in Sentra 2001

Synfin 5 May 2005 06:35:21
Sorry for stupid question. But where is distributor on Nissan Sentra
2001 GXE located ? I took a quick peek, traced spark-plugs wire (all
wrapped in plastic cover), runs to some alunmum box, but nothing like a
distributor on a picture... Am I looking at wrong direction ? Sorry, I
am complete novice. Does anyone has a link picture where you can
clearly see distributor on Sentras ?

If I recall correctly, that has a 1.8 liter motor that has direct ignition.
No distributor, there is an ignition coil over every spark plug.

Thanks. Do you know by any chance how to replace wire-set for spark
plugs in this case ?
After car wash(no engine wash), something get shorted sometimes(car
wont even crank till it dries). I was thinking of sealing distributer
with silicon spray and changing wire-set along).
Any suggestions how to isolate wire section that runs from spark plugs
?

If its the same ignition system as in the big brother maxima, then the
plug wires are not serviceable. You just leave them alone and change the
spark plugs.

Since this is a direct ignition system, the distributor type water
problems should be almost non-existant. Your problem may lie elsewhere.
