Only one word for Darlington night races

Tommy Wood 8 May 2005 20:50:01
 AWESOME.

Darlington has redeemed itself in my eyes as a great racetrack. I loved the
night races both nights.

It is great to see a racetrack so mean and so hard to race, yet nobody
suggests reconfiguring the racetrack to make it easier (like they did at
Texas).

But, I wonder if it isn't going a little bit overboard to brag about a
sellout when the stands only seat 60,000.

I look forward to next year's races.

Yep, I thought it was one of the better races I've seen in awhile...

No need for redemption IMHO but I did enjoy the race under the lights. No
it's time to move the date and bring back the Southern 500.

Actually it was critical to brag about the sellout, since their previous
inability to sell out was sited as one of the reasons for losing a date.

I agree! that's now two interesting (IMO) Cup races in a row; indeed
IMO the best two Cup races thus far this season.
I look forward to next year's races.

I look forward to going next year! <fingers crossed that the race
isn't taken from Darlington>

I was there for about the 12th time over the years....I felt like I was
watching a new era dawn when the lights came on at the Busch race, I
could almost picture Fireball and all his buddies coming over the wall
in turn 1 to join in.
Darlington is where I saw my first race many years ago and will
always be special to me. No it dosnt have fancy skyboxes, hotels infield
restaurants and many of the luxuries that the newer tracks have...but
it has more history and grittiness than all the new ones put
together..IMHO.
Id like to see Bruton buy it and bring the second date back!...add
more stands and have a ball. I sure did!

That means you owe us a UCAP: your story of how the weekend
went, Up Close And Personal (with the language suitably cleaned
up for a family-friendly newsgroup). :o)

Night races are one of the worst things to happen to NASCAR. Too cold and
too hard to see the cars. I hate them.

Time to put the Southern 500 back to Sunday afternoon on Labor Day Weekend.
