Bad Busch Mouth

I don't know if Busch knew that he spun out himself. He might of thought
he'd been tapped but I guess whenever officals tell him something he really
comes out of his character. What I don't understand is that if you're 50+
laps down and you don't fall in line appropriately why make a big stink
about it. I think NASCAR will fine him though. We'll see Tuesday.

From Jayski's Kurt Busch page:

"Kurt Busch hit the [inside] wall on the first lap at Darlington Raceway. Then
he hit an official with a water bottle, bad-mouthed NASCAR over his radio and
ended up in a closed-door meeting with series officials. 'His actions were
certainly not befitting of a champion,' NASCAR spokesman Jim Hunter said after
the Dodge Charger 500. 'He said things that are not fit for print.'"

If I were KB's lawyer, I would enter a plea of temporary insanity.

KB may need to negotiate a truce with the press as Stewart did.
He clearly needed a time out after his visit to the Oval Office.
Reporters need to get their stories to keep the show going;
drivers need a little space to get some perspective on what
has just happened.

Once upon a time, I was very angry with one of my brothers-in-law.
Fortunately, someone told me, "A few moments of patience now
will spare me a hundred days of regret." I calmed down, let a
few days pass, and rescued my friendship with my brother-in-law.

NASCAR is actually a kind of "reality TV." We're watching folks
make ten thousand decisions under great stress. Some decisions
work out well (Biffle pitting), some don't (Martin mashing the gas).
KB made some boneheaded decisions last night. I hope someone
gets to him and helps him learn from his mistakes. I think Kenny
Wallace on Victory Lane said, "They explained to me that I need
them a whole lot more than they need me."

I liked the way Jeff Gordon apologized for thunking Carl
Edwards in the late going. I didn't like the way JJ and Jr. made
no apologies for playing any part in the Dega wreck. Here's
a little script they could rehearse for the next incident: "I'm not
really sure what happened there, but I'm sorry for any mistakes
I made that might have hurt the other guys. We all have to
race safe out there."

I tried that with my BIL. I did calm down and took the regret as a lesson or
learning experience.

It was candid of Jeff to say that. Carl did make a tremendous save there. I
just don't know had Edwards crashed if Gordon would of mentioned it. I think
he would of in either case.

Shoot. I thought Mark's "mistake" worked pretty well for him, considering...
How often can you loose it and cause a caution with 4 or 5 laps left to go
in a race and STILL come back to a top 5 finish?

True. That's what made it so interesting. If it had been fiction, I
would have found it unreal. Since it really happened in the race,
it was fascinating.

I understand what KB did, and I understand that the quiet, calm, KB I
"met" last year when I picked up NASCAR wasn't the same KB of years
past.

but why on earth did he react like that? has anyone heard anything
which might explain such a weird temper tantrum? was there something
else going on in his life or on the track?

I've never been able to watch more than a few minutes of
it at a time.

I do remember when it was being filmed and I
remember the Mello Yellow cars of Kyle Petty.

True enough.

If MM deliberately spun out while pretending to
pass a car that had just wiggled in order to set
up the win for his teammate, he should not only
get Driver of the Year for it but also the Good
Samaritan award. :-O

You have my sympathy. RN was my pick for
last year's Cup. What happened after his
EIGHT-WIN SEASON the year before?!

Just a venture but somewhere in his parental upbringing he learned that
he can't be wrong, authority is wrong by trying to 'get u'.
Or maybe he is a half brother to Tony Stewart?
K-U r the philosophy / psycho expert, shirley u have an explanation.

MM's Motto--AnyBodyButHMS!
As well as MM's Tmates give him 5 bonus points for leading a lap,
why is it out of the realm of possibility that MM would return
a favor?

IMHO, why was there a caution thrown at all?

1: AnyBodyButHMS!... I don't understand. What's the basis for that
statement? Not that I won't agree... just don't understand

2: It's Mark's last year... his last chance to win the cup. for over a
decade he's been the steady... race for points... "5th is better than
wrecking for 1st"... type of driver. Why would he all of a sudden change
that and wreck a top 5 car while running in the top 10 with 5 laps to go?

3: Why was there a caution thrown? Most likely they saw where he was
spinning. Since over 90% of the cars spinning there end up hitting something
or someone, they threw the caution for safety reasons. I've seen it happen
before.

What happened at Darlington was just the real KB bubbling back to the
surface. I am fairly certain that he was given the word to shape up or
ship out after his rocky start in Cup. Jack probably hired him a tutor or
something like that to teach him how to be nice while on the track or
in front of a TV camera. My guess is that he became so frustrated after
his embarrassing first lap show that he just forgot where he was and
lost his cool - what a guy, a real champion...
