Ok. I don't see Bob's score yet. so this is either a +1 or a -1... I'll put
both scores in the top with a note to see this Prediction.
3: The 18 beats the 20

-1 guess not
4: Kurt Bush finishes off the lead lap

-1
5: the 24 finishes in the top 5

+1, I'd say that was a top 5 finish

ok. I saw Bob's results and I still have to leave it to peer review. If I
get the point, I beat Bob's score... if I DON'T get the point, I tie him :)

This is a wonderful conundrum. I predict that it will lead to new
rules about what are acceptable predictions. :o)

For those with a taste for history and philosophy, see
"The Liar's Paradox," Russell's set paradoxes, Goedel's
Theorem, and debates about metalanguage.

For those who just want a decision, I vote to null out that
prediction and score you on the four remaining predictions.
I also want you to hold out your hand so I can slap you with
a ruler on behalf of Sister John Aloysius.

Wish I had seen that when you posted it rather than after the fact.
This is similar to the error you get in Excel when you try to calculate
the value to put in a cell, but the target cell is part of the
calculation.

I tend to agree with Marty and we throw that one out. I'm good with
giving you a zero for the week.

The only way I see to do this would be for you to make a sixth
prediction on the order of: "I have a better score with my other five
predictions than Bob gets on his best five" (allowing for the fact that
I might decide to post more than five predictions one week).

I don't like predicting other people's performance as part of the game.

Picure this:

1. JG top 10.
2. My score is better than Bob's.
3. My score is better than Marty's
4. My score is better than Cindy's
5. My score is better than Michael's.

If I get #1. right, my score is +1, which probably beats them all and gives
me +5 on the week.

Even if I'm wrong, and I get -1 for predition 1, that's probably better than
half of them, giving me +1, which beats the other half, and I end up with
+3.

Let's stick to racing predictions ok?

-Russ.

Seems reasonable.

But Michael is playing a game-within-the-game. So
far, I think he thinks he's winning. ;o)

I am CLEARLY not devious enough.

(and #1 would be a gimme).

Sister JOHN??? Is that like a Priest named Sue?

Many of the sisters took men's names. I don't know why.

Jesuits used to take "Mary" as a middle name when they
took first vows.

Sister John Aloysius was the principal of my grammar
school. I think she would make sure that Michael stopped
laffing at us other kids. :o)

So either way you are not worse than Bob, right? So Bob cannot be
said to have beat you, therefor you have beat Bob. I say you get
the point.
