AH! I think you're right.

Yep, IIRC the graphics were of generic FOMOCO/GM cars with blah color schemes.
DW still spells out T-I-D-E. He just have some kinda grudge> from way back when.

Dunno fer sure, Marty, but it seems to me it's more likely that FOX is tellin' DW
not to say 'Tide'...I've noticed that the few times the talking heads use '...the
Bud #8 car...' type of ID for a team, that it's reserved for those with paid
commercials on the broadcast. Haven't seen a spot for Tide during a Cup race for
a lonnnng time.

I think it's recommended. It's what I do. And you know how I feel
about my moral superiority. ;o)

I beleive you're right. Fox is overly sensitive to the point of
absurdity about what they say on the air (witness their insistance
on not using the phrase "lucky dog"). It would be in character for
them to have a policy of not mentioning by brand companies that don't
advertise.
