Is Martinsville next?

Tommy Wood 11 April 2005 02:41:10
Martinsville has always seemed to be one of the most boring races (unless
you like to see a couple dozen look-alike spins along with follow the leader
single file racing).

I noticed that the stands were 1/3 to 1/2 empty today, despite the fact that
today seemed like a perfect day for a good walkup crowd, ie. the weather was
perfect.

So, is Martinsville the next track to lose one or both of its races so that
ISC can add another 1 1/2 mile cookie-cutter race? My guess is that yes,
Martinsville will lose one or both of its races with a year or two.

And they even went back to the old Martinsville hot dog. :)

Seems so to me also what with cutting the purse, changing hotdog vendors,
allowing beer vendors and total ineptness of fixing the track itself.

I wrote last year that if they were going to fix the track, add 18-24 degree banking.
If not, then eliminate the grass & curb, then see how drivers would use
an inside wall like a Darlington outside wall. Finally for safety's sake
go back to 2 pitroads cuz N$ figured out how to make them fair for all like Bristol.

That's the funniest thing I've read this week!

Makes me want to go back to Martinsville. I missed
those. We had our own grill out in the parking lot
for before and after the race.

Well, du-uh, that's it. The fans were all out getting hot dogs. That looks
good enough to eat. The hot dogs at TMS are barely edible.

Hearty agreement on the pit road issue -- corner pits with only 1.8 lanes
beside them are scary business.
