 1. At least five of the top ten finishers are Chevies

2. Jamie McMurry is the highest finishing Dodge

3. Jeff Gordon recovers from his bad outing at Atlanta to post a top
ten finish

4. Carl Edwards gets a dose of Bristol reality and finishes outside
the top 20

5. The race goes extra laps with a green-white-checker­ finish

 We may get a small piece of that hurricane here too, but it doesn't
take much to knock my cable out, so I better get my picks in now too.


1. Jeff Gordon gets a top 10 finish and picks up at least one more
position in the points.

2. Rusty Wallace is the highest finishing Dodge.

3. The highest finishing Ford beats the highest finishing Chevy.

4. The last place car will run 50 or fewer laps.

5. Both Petty cars (43 45) DNF.

Went thru down here a lot faster than expected...no big deal in my
area, since we didn't get the rain forecast (so no flooding), but
it sounds like folk nearer the beach had a rough evening. Hope
nothing untoward happened up your way (and I hope Katrina gives
the folks in Pensacola a break, wherever it ends up going).

Last few races have been 20, 11, 4, 87, 31, 21. This is rather
close to gimme territory, I think. Specially if guys like Carl
Long, Mike Garvey, Wayne Anderson, Stanton Barrett or Morgan
Shepard make the race, since all those teams have had a habit
of running 10 laps then parking. (That said, I continue to be
a Carl Long fan, and hope he makes the race...watch for Carl to
have the biggest differential between practice & qualifying
speeds, Carl has become a master at the banzai run...at Michigan
he was 10.4 mph faster in quals than practice).
