anthem and NASCAR

Diddy 1 May 2005 21:10:26
Seems NASCAR is making an effort to select performers that treat the anthem
with reverence and respect. The lst several events have been wonderful. i
trend that I'm grateful for. Nice job!

I loved it that Mikey was singing along :)

Yes, indeed. They seem to understand their demographics,
and work hard to keep their fan base.
Which also does well in keeping sponsors happy.

Today's singer wasn't exceptional, but she sang the song correctly, without
embelishments, in tune, and without errors, the way it should be sung.

It's a great piece of music when people don't muck with it.

You don't have to be exceptional to sing it correctly. We've heard
exceptional singers mutilate it. I would rather have the plain old brown
wrapper. Thank You very much. It's far more respectful. When you sing the
Anthem, it's NOT about YOU. Prima Donna's should remember that.

I agree 100%. Why talented professional singers can't figure out that the
national anthem should only be sung one way I'll never know. Jimmy
Hendricks aside, I don't think I've ever heard an "embellished" version of
the song that was more moving than a simple, correct delivery like we heard
this weekend.

I'd rather hear it sung by a non-talented singer, who sings it from the
heart, with meaning; than a talented singer who makes it all about them.
