Of the 7 pole winners so far this year, their average finish is 14th.

Race - Pole - Finish
Daytona - Jarret - 15
Cal - Kyle Busch - 23
Vegas - Newman - 9
Atlanta - Newman - 14
Bristol - Sadler - 2
M'ville - Riggs - 21
Texas - Newman - 16

Gordon fans shouldn't be popping the corks just yet...

I was just refering to his own trend. He wins more when he has to pass less.

Did he not come from three laps down a few races ago to win

Ryan Newman seems to gather "poles" lot more than most drivers. ;-)

Big difference between regaining 3 laps and passing 42 cars on the track
3 times. He did the former, not the latter.
His trend relates to where he starts - 47 of his 71 wins have come when
he's started in the top 5. He's a driver whose performance is related to
the quality of the car off the truck. He'll do as well as his car - he
doesn't "add horsepower".

IIRC, he got 2 laps back on his own, lucky dog is the lucky dog, nascar
created that animal

71 wins, doesn't really matter how they came, they did

#1

has a chance to win.

Unfortunately, this is very true. Robbie Loomis has not developed the skill
that Ray had for tuning the car all race long so that no matter how it came
off the truck, they had a well tuned car by the end of the race. Equally,
Ray has not been able to replicate his own success among his crew chiefs now
under his racing teams.

and as much as you Gordon fans don't realize is there are at least 25 or so
other drivers that have a decent chance every time the flag drops....Its
likely JG won't win tonight so you might want to keep your foot out of your
mouth this week..(unlikely)

I'd disagree. Barring "one of them racin' deals" and quality pit stops,
he tends to finish where he starts. He has 52 poles, 17 of them resulted
in a win. 28 of his wins have come from a front row start.
Comparing that to the numbers of some other big names, it shows that
he's much better at staying up front than he is at getting to the front.
Traffic has always seemed to give him problems.

Uh....yo mr ~all about accuracy~, did I say that Gordon was the only one
who has a chance at any given race? No.
I wrote that Gordon has a chance to win anytime he sets foot on the
track, because he does.
Now run along skippy, I'm not interested in prying you off of my leg
again, & again for another "joey's interpretation of reality" train wreck of
a thread.
You can use all of the rehashed, ignorant, insults that you want, I
won't be reading them anyway.
*Is* "that" >CLEAR< ~enough~ @for@ ?you?

any car that starts near the front has a better chance to win, dega,
bristol, to name a couple where its really important, you gotta earn the
front row

Depending on the driver, starting position might not make much of a
difference. In Gordon's case, it makes a big difference.

at dega you can start in the rear and be leading the race by the time the
first or second lap are "on the books"....

Yup. Gordon isn't the only one, just the most famous. It's balanced out
by drivers like Kenseth though.
