Ranked 35th all-time in Total Wins with 18 placing him 10th among active
drivers. I'd say that's pretty good.

How bout Dale Jarrett/Glenn Jarrett...

Glenn's career best Cup finish was 12th at Ontario...

He finished 4th at Charlotte in the Busch series in '82...

I don't neccessarily think that the trend is surprising. I think it
has a lot to do with the more talented brother's fame and name
recognition getting his brother an "in" with teams and sponsors that
they probably wouldn't have gotten on their own.

BTW ~ other current brother combo's that haven't been mentioned yet:

Kurt / Kyle Busch - time will tell whether they fit the mold or break
the trend.
Ward / Jeff Burton - I'm not sure I would say one is definitely more
dominant over the other... Jeff definitely has more solid stats, but he
has also been on more established teams.

Two-time Daytona 500 winner, former Winston Select (or whatever they called it
back then) winner -- I'd hardly call Mikey a stroker.

But then I'm biased -- I'm a Mikey fan.

The trend he should have noticed is that a great deal of people hoped
that signing a successful driver's sibling would somehow net them another
successful driver, on the outside chance that the successful driver's
sibling would from a fluke of genetic transfer, get the same combination of
genes that made the successful driver...., well...., successful.

Yeah, but unlike most drivers, you just named practically everything Michael

So what does that tell us... seems to me it points out that success at race
driving isn't about genetics, it's about something else.

Not only that, but assumedly these siblings had much the same opportunity
and climate that their brothers did, and so, a similarly good opportunity to
break into the sport and succeed. Perhaps even more so due to family name.

How might we relate all this back to the idea of women in NASCAR? Or Blacks
in NASCAR?

So wait...Rusty's championship and 55 wins and DW's 3 championships and 84
wins qualify him as a stroker, but Elliott's 3 wins qualify him as a good
driver?

And Dale Sr. and Jr. are brothers?

Ok, so maybe it was a little harse to group DW with the strokers. But Rusty
stays there because his constant and never ending bitching, whining and
complaining overshadow any accomplishment he makes on the track.
And didn't you know that in North Carolina it's not unusual that your brother
is also your father?
