Hendrick penalties--how bad??

PowerPost2000 16 March 2005 00:49:01
didi NASCR determine that they were accidents or intentional cheating?

After all, a spring might droop 1/4 or 1/2 an inch after a race.
what is the final word?

Harvick - intentional (crew chief admitted it and said he'd do it
again)

Hendrick - unintentional but, nevertheless, standards (and
rules/penalties) must be consistent.

The Berrier infraction was definitely intentional, which is most likely why
he got four weeks while the others got two.

Everybody's infraction was accidental except car owner Jeff Gordon's. He
told Knaus to lower the roof height so he'd be penalized. That way, I
could post about the penalty here so Michael E could have something to
complain about.

Jeff was just thinking about Michael.

No. The additional two weeks was simply because he shot off his mouth.

Any intentional violation should be a full DQ and possibly one race
park as well.

Perhaps but Berrier's infraction was definitely 'intentional'. He admitted
so and said he would do it again.
