DEI and blown plate engines

ThreeWide 22 February 2005 18:36:31
After seeing Michael with the blown engine Sunday, it occurred to me just
how unusual that event was. Their restrictor plate engines have been
bulletproof for the past few years.

Can anyone recall the last time one of the DEI cup cars lost a restrictor
plate motor during a race? You've seen it happen to Hendrick, Roush, Yates,
etc. but not a DEI car that I can remember.

Jr done blowed one up in 2000.

I don't know if that's the most recent time prior to this past weekend,
though.

I'm hearing that Martin Truex's engine blew, too.

Didn't Mikey have one go poof at one of the plate races last year?

He had a subpar year at the plate tracks, I know, but the only one I can
remember the reason for was him being Sautered in the 500 last year.

Late reply, haven't checked in for awhile (but it looks like the lake
is getting full of runoff from the cattle-or at least bull- pasture
again):
Truex, Mikey, and Herman (who was also running a DEI motor) all lost
engines. Jr. was the only one who made it through the whole race.
