 Hey all-are they going to be showing the old Daytona's like they have
before, this weekend? If they do-hopefully they'll show DW's Ickey Shuffle
from '89!

Nope. ESPN didn't cover Daytona, they don't own the tapes, so they can't
show them.

Classic has aired the old Daytona's, but in a condensed version.

 ...which was before Speed bought the rights from CBS..the original rights
holder.

However....ABC did air several Daytona 500s..and some 125s..which they tape
delayed
as part of "Wide World Of Sports"..usually weeks later. You usually see the
tape of the Petty/Pearson
finish of the 76 race

now THEY could show up on ESPN Classic.

I recall they used to hack up the 125s and show them in the summertime...not
even referring
to them as qualifying races for the 500...and they usually packaged it
around cliff diving
or rodeo or some such, lol

But the great..the legendary Keith Jackson called a few of those races. Now
theres a voice!
