Mopar Battery Warranty?

James 6 May 2005 07:59:16
I've got a Mopar 60 Gold Series Battery that appears to be worn out and no
longer holding a charge. (600 Cold Cranking Amps, 5 Year limited warranty,
CAT # 34-60, Part # 04364944)

This battery is a little less than two years old. Does anyone happen to know
the warranty info regarding this battery? Do I get a free replacement since
it is under two years old, or is it pro-rated? If prorated, approx cost?

Thanks!

James

 Thanks, Bill.

An FYI for anyone buying Mopar batteries: Be SURE to keep your receipt and
be ready to return the battery to the dealer you purchased it from if you
have a problem.

After calling 6 local dealers (FL), I was told by all of them that Mopar
batteries are NOT covered by ANY warranty unless you are the original owner
of a new vehicle that came with a Mopar battery as standard equipment; OR
you purchased the battery from Mopar parts and have your original receipt.
In addition, I was told that even with a receipt you should go to the dealer
where the battery was purchased, since no other dealer is obligated to take
back the battery, although some do decide to.

Unfortunately, this means that if you purchased a used vehicle from a dealer
and have them install a new battery as part of the deal it effectively has
no warranty unless you get a separate receipt.
