Bill, I bet you know, Cuda D60??

RocknCJ 4 April 2005 00:58:22
Yesterday on a Barett-Jackson auction from Palm Beach, Florida, they had a
'71 Cuda Hemi. They said it had a D60 w/4.10 gears and disc brakes from the
factory. Was this car's rear end an odity? It seems like with the wheel base
and lug pattern this would have made a perfect swap for a YJ.

Maybe they said just the front brakes were disc.

Oh yeah, it had a Muncie transmission, was green and went for $150K.

Kids,,,,,, my daughter was sitting there and she said, who would pay that
much money for something that ugly.

I watch the Barett-Jackson. That's proof there's nothing wrong with
our economy, most cars selling at close to a half a million. They used
to just sell the stock classics making sure all the numbers matched. But
not no more! It's possible the rear end and disks are stock, as the
Shelby Mustang of the sixties ran four piston calipers all the way
around. And the stock '69 427" Camaro ran ladder bars. The Chrysler rear
end was plenty strong, though, and were run in the funny cars of the
err.

 Hi James,
When I think Muncie, I think GM, but then I chose the M220 for my
Real Jeep: http://www.billhughes.com/slave.jpg I suppose Chrysler could
do the same. They did put the Dana behind all their four speeds as per:

As a past owner of a 71 Hemi Cuda (I miss that Car) if you had a Hemi and a
4speed you would get the Dana 60 - If you opted for the Hemi with an
Automatic you would get a 8 3/4 Mopar. The disc brakes were only up front.

 Hi Chuck,
A friend's 426" he had taken it out because it had spun a bearing
and replaced with 318 and then sold the Barracuda, twenty five years
ago, and stored it until he salvaged this 55 Chevy Pickup and put it in
it about five years ago:

Cool, another untapped source for D60's... the wrecking yards are full of
Hemi Cuda's!
On a side note, I'm trying to track down some Superbirds - hack the wing off
and sell it to those wannabe's with the Craftsman Truck Series clones.

Since we are OT, check out www.chevrolet.co.uk for a whole collection of
nasty small economy cars you would never buy ... No Corvettes, Camaros or
trucks there at all. Looks like Chevrolet are rebadging the Daewoo Korean
dog eater offerings ...
