05 Jeep grand

Joe 2 April 2005 23:16:55
I have a Jeep "wk" with the hemi. I have to say it is shortening my life!
Does anyone know what is causing the vibration/hesitation when the throttle
is lightly applied?
I understand I may get flamed or ridiculed, but I am going crazy. My wife's
"WJ" and my daughter's "XJ" run better!
Thanks Joe

Is that the one where you buy a V8 that decides you really wanted to buy a
V6 or a V4 ? If so, I'd investigate the cylinders shutting off for the
vibration.

The collapsing the valves to, two and four cylinders didn't work on
the '79 Cadillac either.

It's the way it works. Cuts back on cylenders by starving the hydraulic lifters
and cutting off the fuel. I actually was waiting on the Hemi to replace my ZJ
but after a test drive and reading the problems people are having with it I decided
to keep the ZJ.

Nope, their only f**k up was four bolt diesel conversion. Too weak
to take the twenty to one.

This is what I was thinking of:

"That big news was, of course, the 1990 Corvette ZR-1 coupe (the ZR-1 was
never available as a convertible). Nicknamed "King of the Hill," the ZR-1
was built around the Lotus-designed, Mercury Marine-built, all-aluminum,
5.7-liter, DOHC, 32-valve LT5 V8 making an astounding 375 horsepower. That
is, it made 375 horsepower when an in-dash key was set in "full-power" mode
and not in the "valet" mode when it was limited to just 250 horsepower."

do you know how they did it ?

 Hi Dave,
That's a SMOG motor, and there's a zillion ways they could mess
with the computer to make or take away horsepower, as limited as it is,
it's the fuel economy Dialer's after to justify this Hemi with the
Environmental Protection Agency, and to do that they must take away
cubic inches. My thunderbird has an OHC V8, it's not worth thinking
about. And note you were looking at 375 HP, Geez a stock '66 327" Vette
has that! And of course it's push rod, for brute horsepower like the new
Hemi.

you noticed the electronic throttle lag
there is no throttle cables anymore and the lag is the time it takes to react
to the foot
you will also notice now that i told ya, the throttle stays on after matting it
and take your foot off the pedal for a split split second
it's all normal for this to happen even the trucks do this
the throttle has 2 electric motors that moves the throttle plates
i have been told there is 50 hose hiding there but a hipo reflash for the pcm
is not ready yet

As far as I'm concerned they're not serious until they bring out
the seven liter again.

 Hi mic canic,
I think I am getting used to it. I'm giving it a chance, it is either
getting better or I'm am getting used to it. I am a heavy equipment mechanic
so I understand how it works, but it is weird. Other than that the truck is
very capable, fast and handles well. It will never go off road, so I don't
care about ride height. 50 more horse would be even better, but not needed.

the thing i like alot is the feeling i'm on a quad and not in a jeep it just
amazes me the responsiveness and handling
find some lonely curvey dirt roads and watch how much fun you have

Chevy is bringing back the 7 liter (427 CI) in the 2006 Corvette Z06.
It's 7 liter LS7 engine produces 500hp and the vette weighs 3,130 lbs.
The engine is the strongest smallblock in GM history (factory) and
features a titanium valvetrain and drysump lubrication. The car's
mufflers have vacuum operated Pierburg valves that open at about
3500 RPM to allow exhaust to pour straight through each muffler.
It also has a Hydroformed aluminum chassis and manesium engine
cradle. The engine produces it's 500 hp at 6200 rpm and 475 lb ft
of torque at 4800 rpm. The camshafts .591 inch lift is the highest
of any GM street cam in history.

 Cool.
My Jeep runs a 400" Chevy small block, the cylinders are Siamese
losing their water jackets to get that bore. The 427", 454" are consider
the big block, rat motors. There's no substitute for cubic inches.
