2001 Accord EX seat problem

Enrique Gonzales 19 March 2005 19:34:26
I have a 2001 Accord EX 2-door coupe with leather seats. When you
pull the passenger seat back forward, the seat "unlocks" and moves
forward to allow access to the back seat. At first, the seat would
occasionally fail to "lock" back into position. Now, it is very
difficult to get it to lock at all. It just slides freely, forward
and backward, making a clicking noise.

Is there an adjustment to the locking mechanism? Is there a known
problem with these seats? Any suggestions would be appreciated. i
sure would hate to have to buy a new seat from Honda.

the locking mechanism is greased & spring loaded. sometimes, the grease
gets loaded with grit, crumbs, old french fries, etc and clogs up. you
should be able to get it to lock by pushing the lever back to the
locking position rather than relying on the spring. if not, take the
seat out & clean everything up. there's a small chance the mechanism is
broken, but that's not common on hondas.
