Predictioon of new engine and qualifying rules, hopefully for next race

Guest 6 March 2005 06:01:09

Predictions are for two sessions each of one hour all cars allowed on track
held on Saturday and Sunday morning.

Points will be given for the relative times in each qualifying session.
The combination of these points dictates the final grid position for the
race. Points may also be given towards the drivers championship from
qualifying.

To stop early retirement from the race points will be given down to last
place in the race. All cars that do not pass the flag at the finish of the
race will lose two of these points.

As the teams have already had to work around the engine rules we have to
keep some kind of limit on the use of engines.
Instead of each engine having to last two races the teams will be limited to
ten engines per driver for the full year. Teams will be penalised for not
taking part in public practice and qualifying sessions by having to compete
at minimum number of laps or lose the use of one of these engines.

Next year their will no longer be a limit on the number of engines used.

All highly unlikely for the obvious reasons. Actually, the new rules
have just provided us with a fascinating race which I, for one,
thoroughly enjoyed. They also look to have set us up for the most open
seasons in years. Isn't that what everyone has been asking for?
