Red Bull have a lucky strike.

Bigbird 5 May 2005 19:36:13
BARs exclusion has meant that RBR have now scored in every race this season
and continue to have a fair opportunity in the next two races.

Williams were the big winners with an extra 4 points, I think, are the
Williams boys, now both 5th equal in the championship.

JV 4th who'd have thought :)

Renault and McLaren have also scored every race.

Not quite. Ferrari are 4th 'cos of the quality of their results.

The real question is "Will it shut the JVi bashers up?" Somehow, I doubt
it...

There are a few other changes of note:

Liuzzi is one of the 62 drivers to have earned points on his first
start, (this includes the Indy 500 drivers who earned F1 points).

BAR are still ranked ahead of Minardi 'cos of the quality of results
from the first 3 races.

I'll bet Rofl's mightily miffed they decided to drop the appeal against
his 25 seconds. He's now 9th and, had the 25 second penalty been
reversed, he'd have been 6th.

But that is somewhat less of an achievment compared to RBR.

Not quite.

Yes quite.

Pedantry. Hardly worthy of note until the end of the season. You really are
asking too much for people to have to specify that the ranking they are
quoting is based simply on points or otherwise.

I didn't see the incident but I had the feeling they knew they were on a
loser even when they lodged the appeal. Didn't they say they were appealing
in order to clarify the rules?

No, they said they're going to seek a clarification of the rule from the FIA
now they're not appealing.

Very true. I'd still like to have the tosspot at Ford in front of me so
I can kick his rear end every time I get irritated. I'm fairly sure I
can work up my irritation. In fact, I can guarantee it.

Yes quite.

If you ignore the quality of results, then Williams and Ferrari are
equal 4th, not 5th. But, you did write "I think" and I can also accept
that the 5th was a slip of the finger. Either way, the points will be a
welcome addition for Williams.

<snigger>

Yeah, 'cepting pedantry appears to be a major cause of this situation
regarding BAR. Sort of.

They said they were going to bring it up at the next meeting. I forgot
which meeting exactly but I got the impression they were talking about
this weekend.

As soon as I hear/read something, I'll let ya's know.

No, they said they're going to seek a clarification of the rule from> the FIA now they're not appealing.>

Racing team principal Tsutomu Tomita said: "In view of the extremely vague
description of the regulation and a number of similar incidents which have
gone unpunished, Toyota has decided to appeal the decision of the stewards
in order to clarify this issue for the future."

In that case I stand corrected. I was looking at www.formula1.com and was
pretty sure the results were all updated correctly.

That's the "meeting" to which I was referring, thanks for that.
