Hmm JPM 8 points from 2 races PdlR 4 points from 1. JPM hade better hope he is
well for Imola or he may find himself behind the stand in driver. PdlR was a bit
lucky in that it was the Bahrain GP as on most tracks he would have hit
something on one of his many trips off the course.

Good points. However, at least he showed the kind of guts that ... what's
his name again? ... sometimes lacks. He fought from start to finish.

I hope he has another chance to prove himself in Imola.

Come on he blew two pass attempts and should have finished in 4th, I bet
montoya would have been 2nd or 3rd today in the same car..

That was still more passing attempts than most if any other driver in the
field. And he did get by in the end. For those of us who actually like to
see drivers *race* each other it was great entertainment and great racing by
Pedro!

I won't mind one bit if he gets another race or two before Monty's back.

Indeed, but perhaps if it had been a place like say, Barcelona, he wouldn't
have had those excursions. I think he did quite well for being thrown in
at the deep end at a track he'd never been to. Especially with these
rubbish rules which effectively limit practice time.

And, as Martin commented, there is simply no substitute for actual
racing. He has done the testing, he knows the car and he can drive it
damned quickly. He just hasn't had the race mileage for a long time. He
remembered how to do it eventually, but it took a few practice shots.

I'm not so sure - Bahrain is very forgiving with huge run-off areas and, of
course, the drivers know that & so will take a risk or two. OTOH Testing is
not racing & to pass another car its not uncommon to have to take a risk.
Pedro is clearly "race rusty" - but none the less he did great.

If he races a Imola & ends up in the same kind of position he'll just get
stuck. Imola is a dreadful track these days & is probably a close third
behind Monaco & Hungary for the lack of passing places. In reality Barcelona
actually isn't that much better - unless it rains ;-)

How do you make that out. He has not come close to getting as much race pace
out of the car as KR. PDR was much closer.

He raced for Arrows in 1999 and 2000; Jaguar in 2001 and 2002 although
he was a replacement for Burti in 2001. (Burti raced the first 4 races
and moved to Prost. PdlR took over for the rest of the 2001 season):
