F2005: 0 of 1 3 April 2005 17:18:01
 "Well, that was rather dismal..."

Failure of the undertested F2005 always had a high probability, but
Rubens... Jeez.

I'll give him another chance in a more temperate climate, but he just
doesn't seem to train hard enough. ...Never did.

When he should be pushing hardest to reach the podium, a frigging
point even, he far too often seems to delight rather in the pretty
scenery, including his competitors brightly colored cars, passing him
by. Passed by Coulthard in last year's Jaguar...

...I'll look closer next time, but I half expect to see him hanging
his tongue out in the breeze like the family dog on vacation.

Not that *anyone* was helped by Webber playing Choo-Choo Charlie, the
train engineer, for the first two thirds. ...How'd he do at Minardi?

Begrudging kudos to Renault (one-sided tire rules and all) and how
about Toyota?! Anyone see how Jacks finished? Is BAR running cars
this year?

And, once again: Wan choose a pretty poor time to play hooky.

I'll give him another chance in a more temperate climate,

I'm sure he will be relieved...

Speaking of which you remind of my dog only he knows more about F1 and
conversely only lifts his leg on red cars.

Hey, while he was running, Seven Time World Drivers Champion Michael> Schumacher looked FAST!!!

Bob - when he pulled into the garage his rear tyres were already showing
signs of heavy wear. If the hydraulics hadn't failed, he'd have been
gripless (as Rubens was) come the latter stages. It's no good being fast at
the start and stripping so much rubber off your tyres that you end up
practically the slowest car on track.
I'm predicting a Ferrari 1-2 there!!!

It will be interesting to see what Ferrari can achieve in the next 3 weeks,
but a 1-2 is asking a lot on todays showing - take off your scarlett glasses
Bob, they are making things look far rosier than they really are...
FORZA FERRARI!!

At least you are sticking by them - more than can be said of a huge number
of UK Man Utd fans! Half of them will suddenly turn blue in a couple of
weeks time.

Hey, while he was running, Seven Time World Drivers Champion Michael> Schumacher looked FAST!!!

No denying that - but it was at the expense of his rear tyres which looked
half shagged after only 12 laps & given the sudden relative increase in
speed between first & second quali & the race it looks like he was on a
light fuel load. Alonso had him covered all the way to the bank & I'd bet
Trulli & Raikonen would have picked him off as the tyres faded as well -
afterall, Rubens was running MS's setup & look what happened to his tyres...

You'll be lucky - Renault, McLaren, Toyota, BAR & Williams ALL have new Aero
parts coming for Imola. Ferrari need to spend the next three weeks finding a
balance & some reliability - oh and some tyres that work would help too.
Till they get a stable & reliable package it will be hard to work out what
can be improved to give it more speed - by which time the others will have
moved on again. Ferrari are playing catchup - big time & MS is now 24 points
adrift which is a hell of a lot under the current format.

I.

So do Minardi; they've got a whole new car and engine! Look out
Renault, here comes the real challenge. 8]

I think their balance is fine, and they should figure out how to
turn off the Rubins-destruct button. The tyres were fine at Melbourne,
it's just the heat the B's can't handle.

Michael reckoned they might have caught a plastic bag in the
radiator (I saw a yellow one get real close to a couple of cars) that
overheated the hydrolics. Fluke rather than real car troubles.

Such is F1. The teams coming up always have the advantage under a
stable rules system though, which they've got for 3 years now; they can
just copy what the winner's doing.
For example, everyone's busy copying the new Renault fin and
bargeboard splitters; just as they're all copying the late developments
off last years Williams (like the little gearbox wing).
Ferrari are playing catchup - big time & MS is now 24 points adrift which> is a hell of a lot under the current format.

The Renaults have had a car failure now though, which puts the
point format in a whole new light. McLaren are the fastest in the races
anyway, they're just sucking a bit at qualifying time.

In the words of Christine Keeler, well, he would say that, wouldn't he?

Are you suggesting that perhaps he had some extra technical help, Doc?> Or are you just saying that that particular performance was a> remarkable piece of driving?

What I am saying is, it was a frigging miracle. Unbelievable.
