Ferrari breaks testing rules

Popeye 2 March 2005 18:07:55
Ferrari broke an F1 test agreement on Tuesday, by amassing more than 50km of
'shakedown' mileage in GP week. Debuting the new 'F2005' model at freezing
Mugello (Italy), Luca Badoer completed 317km -- 267 more than allowed.
Ferrari's motor sport press office indicated that Badoer would continue at
the privately-owned track on Wednesday, and that Ferrari would not be held
back by any testing rules.

The F2005 is not being raced, so it is not a shakedown test.

Look on the bright side, they will be world champions (in a one horse
race) for decades to come. Everyone else currently in F1 will leave
them to stew in their own juice and realise that no one, except a few
rabid orange red wops likes a cheat.

So nice you were there to give us this first hand report. Or do you have a
source?

An agreement that they are not signatories to. It's a gentleman's
agreement between the other 9 teams. Ferrari have not, in this
instance, broken any of the rules and regulations of F1 racing.

"Ferrari" and "Gentleman's Agreement" would appear to be mutually
exclusive!
