My guess is that the car was inspired by the Citroën 2CV. The kid who won
the design award was probably conceived in the back seat of one. :)

Instead of winning the award, he/she should be culled from the herd.

Vince Galante's unnamed sports car looks like it'd make a very good
Nissan 350Z replacement.

http://www.autoshow.ca/design/2005/default.asp?act=designs&sid=4&pid=1

The Saab Monte Carlo from Umea looks like they could build it tomorrow;
it looks like a Saab and has some good design cues from the old Lancia
Stratos. Lovely.

http://www.autoshow.ca/design/2005/default.asp?act=designs&sid=24&pid=1

The New Sports Compact from Halle looks like an interesting entry in the
Puma sort of sector...

But the rest look f---ing awful.

Check.

ROFL. That's just one continuing saga of bad English :) Did you notice
that on the second slide, it becomes the Clap Mobile? (on the back of
the car). I'm not sure which is worse...

Ah! Light dawns. Clap skates was in fact what they were trying to
refer to. Heh. (belated)

Aha! We thought it might be "crab" possibly, but there's no skaters at
work ;)

I wonder if it would actually work? Graham, you reading this thread?

Who? Me?

(Goes away to look at sites...)

Erm. Yes. "The centre of gravity is located at the front tires" kinda
suggests that there is no load on the rear tires ;) Both images look
like design sheets rather than anything engineered.

I don't know much about 'crap' (clap) skates and their improvements on
standard ones. If the skaters body position remains as it would
normally, then using the clap skate would increase the load at the rear
of the skate from zero to some value, and thus remove load from the
front of the skate. Just seems like a better way to get the power down.

Having seen what Sports Engineers come up with, I'd be *very* wary of
any advertising blurb and concepts applied to other technologies from
their results.

Cheers
Graham

That's a no then. Thought you might say that ;)

That reminds me, I'm supposed to be finding out the frame rate of slo-mo
replays at football matches...

Yes, because the Aztec should have served as a warning.
