Duh... Cosworth, who already supply a no-tech V-8 to whom?

Cosworth aren't going to be supplying engines in 2006, not to RedBull,
anyway - Mateschitz doesn't want them. And unless another team signs up,
no one else will either. Can you get a quote (one like Martinelli's
would do nicely) from someone at Cosworth, since they were sold, who
reckons they have an F1 future?

You should release a compendium. :)

It would have been a good idea from the start...

So Honda and Toyota are the new bastions of Formula England? Interesting...

You wish... Their 1975 road V-8, destroked, was all they'll need next
year. Hell, as if it wasn't noticed, a destroked museum piece DFV
will be all that anyone needs next year.

Formula England: Turning the clock back to give them a "champion".

2.5, the "DFW" ;)
and how about converting one of the CART "Chevy" V8s to atmo > specs, and running different fuel...suddenly, it's 1966 again in Formula > One!> Doc

Hmmmmm.... well the first DFXs were actually shipped to the states as
short-stroke low-compression DFVs, the turbos were only put on them when
they got over there ;)

Grand Prix Legends already exists.

BernieandMax...a Tasman spec Lotus 49, complete mit 2.5 liter DF motor.

Can I enter a Mildren-Waggott? -- *lovely* name for a racing car...

OH yes..... saw that race. Scary bugger. And who was it that had the
Daf with a Chevy in the back? And the Anglia with the Martin V8 in it,
which I think David Beard knows quite a lot about? And Tony Sugden's
endless succession of "Skodas" - I seem to recall he was in one with Tiga
chassis, quite a lot of March F3000 bits, and a 500+bhp Sierra Cosworth
engine when he retired.... in his 70s. ;)

And of course Big and Baby Bertha. ;)

Supersaloons. Can't beat em.
Oh, and BTW, did you see the V8 Chevy engined Jaguar XJ6 racer up for > sale at the auction at the NEC? Looked tatty enough to be the one built > by, was it Tony Strawson, in the early Seventies?

Tony Strawson I think I associate with the Daf... and while we're
thinking, didn't someone put a DFV in the front of a Capri? Colin
Hawker?

Didn't make it to the NEC this year... I was heading in the opposite
direction that weekend, but the East Coast main line wasn't playing
ball...
Hmmmmm.... well the first DFXs were actually shipped to the states as >> short-stroke low-compression DFVs, the turbos were only put on them when>> they got over there ;)>
Yes, but the subsequent Ilmor V8s were much more compact power units > than the DFV, it looks huge in comparison.

Yep... you'd expect some development after nearly 20 years -- especially
as Ilien and Morgan were in charge of the Cosworth Indy programme and
walked out of Cosworth with the complete design for the 256A almost
complete -- took it to Roger Penske and the rest is history. It's the
engine the Cossie DFS should've been. ;) There were people who were *angry*
about that at Cosworth for a long time.
