advanced technology in motor sport but only a third believe it
showcases the best drivers."

That is a quote from the FIA survey that I find very interesting. It
seems F1 fans as a whole don't find the drivers of F1 the world's
best.

I personally think they are the best, but if they aren't, where are
the best drivers practicing their talent?

In Formula One, but the goddamned fucking shitty crapbox annoying farty
fucking loathsome botty-pinching snitwungers of crox bottoms electronic-
like driver HIVs mask every little last nuance of brilliance.

And who wants to watch that?

The simplest way of looking at it is this.

1. You are in a motor race.
2. Your approach a car that is 1.5 seconds a lap slower than you.
3. Unless you are a complete incompetent, you will get past in the space
of one lap, two laps tops.

GIVE THE CARS BACK TO THE DRIVERS!!!!!

Hard to say.

Too many talented drivers run out of money and never make it to F1, also
their is Rallying which is a completely different disapline(sp) and then
you have bikes, Who better Raikonen or Rossi or Loeb??

Their are also may drivers in F1 who are there becasue they have money
and have bought a drive...

So I wouldnt say F1 has the best 20 drivers in the world


I was thinking about this the other day...

Take this example.

You have one driver (lets call him Bob) who wins here and their in F1,
gets a few wins. Another driver (Dan) in the same car gets a couple of
WDC's

Now lets say both drivers got to DTM, some may consider this a lesser
category than F1. But Bob has masses of success and scores two
championships, in the same car Dan only scrapes a few wins...

Who is the better driver?

Their isnt really an answer IMO.

i think F1 easily is most advanced technology in motor sports. i'm i wrong?
that's why F1 appeals to me. it's always amazing to hear what new things
the teams are working on. the cars are the stars to me.

there's only 4 maybe 5 really good F1 drivers at the moment. if R.
Schumacher, Sato, Heidfeld and others are the best, well then i'm a
submarine captain.

there's a lot of great drivers around the world in different forms of
racing but F1 just seems to pluck most of these guys out of nowhere. F1
should search for great drivers the way they search for more
horsepower/speed.

If you wanted someone to drive a getaway car from a bank robbery and needed
100% assurance you'd escape any police and any roadblock, you'd better get a
WRC driver.

I'd have to agree with that other gentleman that this might be due to
all the other factors masking whether the driver is any good or not.

for instance, I would assume that given the same "visible" driving
performance (for some definition thereof), the amount of work and
skill that needs to be put in is probably lower in a McLaren than in a
Jordan.


that being said, I saw some footage of DTM-type cars being driven on
the Nordschleife and I have to say that even just watching I got
really scared. that was the most *brutal* high-speed driving I have
ever seen. it makes both WRC and F1 look dull and safe.
