Wasn't exactly the first 5 races but 1996 had a large number of
retirements. Of the 32 starts:

14 classifications
2 classifications but retired
15 retirements outside the classifications
1 retired before the race started

1993 they had the following:

1 (RSA): both retired but Berger was classified 6th
2 (BRA): 1 retirement
3 (EUR): both retired
4 (RSM): both retired
5 (ESP): 1 retirement
