Well, you may have guessed, I came home from Jackson trip via US 70/US70A. I
picked up 70A in Humboldt along Business US 45W. I *guess* it's a business
route. I saw mostly "mainline" style signs along both the "business" route
and the "bypass" route. I actually only saw one "bypass 45W" sign and was a
junction assembly on a dead-end section of highway on the south side of
town. Tennessee is almost as bad as Oklahoma: is the road a "main" route or
a by-pass? Ditto By-pass 79/70A... it was occasionally posted as a "normal"
route.

Tennesse is the only state I know that has the "directional" double arrow
signs
<-W E->

At Brownsville, 70A ends at 70. There is a By-pass route here that's posted
as a "normal" route. The "business" route is actually just a network of
state routes and "retired" highways passing through town.

70 (and 70A)/79 is mostly a rural 2-lane highway with lots of older
"fencepost"- style concrete bridges. =|==|==|==| . Many of the towns along
the way look sort of like "the land time forgot" except for an occasional
c-store.

Tipton County has a sign proudly proclaiming it to be the "Birthplace of
Isaac Hayes".

The only construction I ran into was in the Arlington area near TN 385. A
combination of road widening and bridge improvements.

Actually, I ran itno LOTS of construction on I-40 approaching I-240. Most of
the lanes and bridges have been built, but not completed. There are also
"sound walls" being built in the area to protect the area neighborhoods from
too much noise.

The flyover from NB 240 to WB 40 appears to be almost finished. It's open to
traffic, and appears to be in the process of being completed. Everything
else is still a big mess!

There was also a massive traffic delay in West Memphis: the interchange with
AR 118 /Airport Road is being rebuilt so traffic is down to one lane in
either direction. I cam through there just after 3pm on Sunday and traffic
was backed up to the 40/55 split. Of course, construction continues on I-40
near Little Rock as well with adding additional lanes. Progress seems to be
very slow.

Where are they adding lanes in the Little Rock area?

Where are they adding lanes in the Little Rock area?>

Between I-430 and I-30. Will eventually be 3 lanes in either direction.
