- can anyone identify the city and interchange in the foreground? I'm
wondering what highway would have a trumpet and then continue onward.

The one in the left forground is I-10(Santa Monica Freeway)/I-110/CA
110(Harbor Freeway) in Los Angeles, CA.

Speaking of comics, I assume that most readers here noticed that last
week's Foxtrot closely resembled a recent m.t.r discussion about Google
Maps' satellite photos - and yes, the graphic in Saturday's strip
actually is of the Google headquarters - compare
http://www.ucomics.com/foxtrot/2005/04/23/ to
http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=37.422062,-122.084413&spn=0.003541,0.005772&t=k
or
http://terraserver-usa.com/image.aspx?T=4&S=8&Z=10&X=11620&Y=82841&W=3

Also, MapQuest got a mention in last Tuesday's Non Sequitur.
