 Not much happening yet on local roads, with the exception of flood related
repairs. I have noticed that the IH 84 in eastern Putnam county(From j19 to
the CT line) has been getting newer, much more substantial railing on all
overpasses. This is about twice the size of the current bridge railing.
Also all the gantries approaching j20 westbound have been taken down; and
VMS's are doing advance signage duty for the junction(and not well
either-look for an example in my upcoming Tri-State Road trip gallery).
There is no activity on the j7 reconstruction yet; though the gantry signs
I took snaps of for my Thanksgiving 2k3 page have been remounted in the
verge, rotten shields and all, as have the EXIT 7N and EXIT 8 advance signs
I've got posted on my site. There are works progressing on the
Newburgh-Beacon Bridge; at the east end, near the toll plaza, they're
removing the Jersey barrier, presumably to replace it with a taller
constant slope barrier; another NYSBA capital improvement project.
