CO: Cosmix Project Timeline Announced

Ryan 25 March 2005 11:14:10
The COSMIX project, which is the little cousin of Denver's T-REX project
(http://www.trexproject.com), has announced its construction schedule.

Here's a link to the local paper's report on it...
http://www.gazette.com/display.php?id=1306547&secid=1

COSMIX also has a website, but there's not too much to talk about on it
right now.

This project will not be as ambitious as t-rex, but it's been a long time
coming for the interstate through Colorado Springs. I've always been amused
that a city with a metro population of >500k people can only have one two-
lane interstate running through it. Admittedly, I'm glad we have this.
Driving on surface streets in this city is a lesson in patience, bumper-
cars, and red lights....

If there's any intrest here in MTR, I can take pictures of the
construction. I wander up and down I-25 pretty much on a daily basis. It
won't be difficult to take snaps of the progression.

i've lived in Denver since 93 and EVERY time I go through COS it's 25
is always under construction - been 2 lanes for 10 years north of
downtown.

it opens up nice south of the Nevada exit (i think), but north is
miserable.

one of the reasons the airport never received the Denver traffic it
hoped for (my guess).

love to see pics, been meaning to do some of T-Rex, i go over a couple
overpasses when i bike home from work in SE Denver.

Been 2 lanes for much longer than that.

Actually the reason the COS airport never received much Denver traffic
is that it's cheaper to fly out of Denver for the most part; driving to
COS takes way way longer on top of that, even if the road were
free-flowing, so why bother; the number of markets served by airlines
flying out of COS is a tiny fraction of the cities served nonstop from
Denver; and many of the flights out of COS are short jumps to the
Denver airport anyway, where you'd just change flights over to the
airplane you would have been on anyway if you'd slept another two hours
and simply went out to DIA.

I also would liek to see regular pix from COSMIX.
