What's the status of I-75 at the Ky/Tn border?

Magyar 16 March 2005 08:50:56
Are all lanes opened once more up there?
If the weather if favorable, I'm thinking of taking the scenic route from
Baton Rouge to Columbus (via Mobile, Birmingham, Chattanooga, Knoxville, and
Lexington) instead of the more "basic" I-12-I-55-I-40-I-65-I-71 route I took
back over Christmas break.

It is open for one lane traffic.

511 Alert:

"Interstate 75 southbound : at Tennessee State Line delays , roadway
reduced to one lane , width limit in effect , length limit in effect
because the road surface has collapsed."

"Comment: Tennessee has constructed a cross over around the surface
collapse, from mile 144 to 141 . All drivers are encouraged to use
I-75, with due caution in the construction area. WIDE LOADS MUST EXIT
OFF I-75 SOUTH AT THE 160 MILE POST, IN TENN., AND FOLLOW THE DETOUR."

It's two lanes northbound and one southbound with the aforementoned
crossover.

All lanes open northbound. One lane open southbound between MM 145-141. Width
restrictions in place.

If you're coming north, you should be fine.

I have enough hesitation (since I wouldn't reach this till Friday morning)
with time and weather that I'm going to pass on the "scenic route" till May.
Unless I can find something else to entertain my eyes out on the road (and
keep my trip to 15 hrs or less), it'll be I-12/I-55/I-40/I-65/I-71 for me
again. :-/

Thanks to all who responded.
