Is this speed survey availabe on the web? Could you post the address?>

I liked the cover of that report, which showed a rural two-lane highway with
a series of four speed limit signs (obviously Photoshopped in) starting at
65 mph and ending with a "Speed Limit Warp 7" sign. (Reportedly a Warp 7
speed limit sign was actually installed on NV 375 when it was renamed the
Extraterrestrial Highway, though it was replaced a day later with a regular
70mph speed limit sign.)

The report also noted that Nevada DOT's speed monitoring program was
originally set up to verify compliance with the old National Maximum Speed
Limit. So it wouldn't surprise me if the location of the monitoring station
on US 50 was established back in NMSL days on one of the slowest open-road
stretches of the highway, to make its numbers look good to Federal
overseers. While certainly many drivers on the highway stick pretty close
to US 50's 70mph limit (such as truckers and RVs), the reported 71mph
average speed seems not representative of the entire route east of Fallon.
