Road kill candy angers animal rights activists

Friday, February 25, 2005 Posted: 9:41 AM EST (1441 GMT)

TRENTON, New Jersey (AP) -- Animal rights activists are disgusted by a
new candy from Kraft Foods Inc. that's shaped like critters run over by
cars -- complete with tire treads.

The fruity-flavored Trolli Road Kill Gummi Candy -- in shapes of partly
flattened snakes, chickens and squirrels -- fosters cruelty toward
animals, according to the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals.

"It sends the wrong message to children, that it's OK to harm animals.
And that's the wrong message, especially from a so-called wholesome
corporation like Kraft," said society spokesman Matthew Stanton.

John Kerry utilized an American made 12 gauge (very expensive) Browning
shotgun, with environment-friendly pellets, formed into a smilie-face
shapes each pellet with the microscopic lettering: "I actually thought
about *not* shooting you before I *did* shoot you with this pellet.
Sorry."

It was a nuanced blast.

Ya know, Kerry carrying a shotgun is the single best argument I ever
heard for gun control laws. I wouldn't go into the field with him armed.
He might mistake me for an unarmed, wounded soldier and try to gun me
and then I'd bet liberals would demand I be tried for murder after
killing him. That would be the most likely result since it has never
been proven that Kerry ever actually shot at any body who could shoot back.

I remember as a child enjoying biting the heads off animal crackers.
Fortunately at 4 years old I was able to discern between eating a snack food
and animal murder. Apparently some activists haven't developed that
capability yet.

There are two generally accepted humane strategies on this:

I happen to be an animal-lover myself.

I'll defend the rights of any and all animals... to be eaten.

Just an observation: I find it interesting that you cross-post to a NG
called "alt.nuke.the.usa", and then make libelous comments about the
president... and his wife (in your screen name).

On that basis, it could be argued by some that you are encouraging ill

First of all, every gummi candy tastes the same regardless of shape.
Second, none of these actual gummi candy pieces look like what they're
advertised. A flattened armadillo is indistinguishable from Spongebob
Squarepants which looks just like a stealth bomber. It was just a
marketing ploy so little boys could say to one another, "Hey let's go
to my house and eat some road kill! Ha ha ha!"

The only thing funnier than roadkill shaped candy is the idea that
someone would get upset over it.

Libelous and true. Laura bush was unquestionably guilty of at least
manslaughter and it may have been murder. If there was any justice in
