I've even seen people claim that Mary Jo drove off in the car on her own and into the ocean leaving Ted there and that Ted was covering for her for some reason. It sure is a fuzzy situation, which people read according to their political leanings. No one knows what happened since (unlike with laura bush) there are no witnesses. I've heard that a relative of ted's was the actual driver and ted took the heat to protect him. Others say she was strangled somewhere else and then ted staged this incident to make it look like an accidental death. Who knows?
