Re: LASER + PHOTO RADAR License plate cover

Can someone tell me if there is anything that defeats the red light
cameras or speed cameras. I am getting fed up with these stupid camera
tickets that are absolutely unfair. I got one the other day for
driving 4mph above the speed limit. What do they call this safety or
ripping off? I need help.

Ripping off. Cover your plates with something that will screw it up.

there are various license plate covers that purport to work, but they are
probably illegal.

photoblocker;a spray that is clear until flashed by the camera flash, then
it reflects totally and obscures any reading of the plate. No cover to be
spotted by a LEO.

Illegal in most states,though.

www.photoblocker.com

Or you could splatter mud over the plate.

The driver's brain.

Or, a well-placed ought six should do it. That, or a large
structural steel bumper with lots of reinforcement. Hehehe...

A pellet gun.

Buying a new car and driving through before your plates arrive in the
mail (works great for tollbooths, too).

Not around here. California Highway Patrol are always checking for
carpool cheats on our toll bridges, and I'm sure the toll booth
operators have a way of alerting them.

Unfortunately that is not true. It usually takes legislation to defeat
the red light camera. :(

The same here. People are buying and installing blue and yellow ones. Guess
what? They're illegal.

Sure the cops don't care. It's a "secondary offense": you only get charged
if they pull you over for something else, like it used to be here (until
very recently) for seat belt violations.

The driver license offices here sell clear ones ($13 each!), which *are*
legal.

Just fight the ticket in court. Your local DA will probably dismiss
the charge when push comes to shove. First line of defense is to have
the camera in question impounded for calibration. This will remove the
income producing device temporarily at least. Since most folks just
mail in the fines and never question the machine its removal will
cause some consternation with the authorities. If the machine proves
to be as little as .1 mph off it may be assumed to be behaving
improperly. Chances are the DA would rather dismiss your one charge
than have to drop several hundred.

Now this impounding, I remember a speeding ticket case I was at, the
calibration on the radar gun was some tuning fork test, they did every
day. Aren't photo cops tested each day, or have an internal test that
could null your request for a calibration?

Nonsense.I have a cheap CCD board-camera that works fine at night with IR
illumination. Image intensification is not necessary in most street
locations.

Wal-Mart and other stores use them, too, for parking lot surveillance.

Forget the ticket. Just move the runner's car off into a side street
or parking lot and slash all four tires.
The delay and expense will be punishment enough.

In many cases, the yellow light time is set BELOW the legal minimum.
This is especially prevalent when a private contractor installs the
cameras in exchange for a cut of the profits.

maximize the chance of catching someone running a red light.
I don't remember exactly where I saw this, but I have a vague memory of a film
or something you can put over your liscence plate that looks clear but will
not allow a camera to record the number. It could be some sort of polarized
plastic.

 It's man vs machine gentleman.

I have one question though, if the license plate is sufficient evidence to
mail the owner a ticket, then why take a picture of our face? oh wait let
me guess...so possible terrorists can be weeded out...

seriously, why take a picture of the driver?

seriously, why take a picture of the driver?

Because the owners always claim that they weren't the ones driving the
car through the red light. So now they take a picture of the driver so
they can prove in court who committed the violation.
