Drafting Ducklings

Speaking of Sloths clumping together, I saw the most amazing thing
today: a rolling clump of ducklings - around 20 of them. The lead
duckling was a grey Chrysler minivan driving, of course, in the left
lane. Behind it were so many other vehicles I couldn't see the end of
the group. And they were all drafting each other like NASCAR drivers.

I was driving in the right lane with no other vehicles around me. As
the lead duckling approached, he took up stationkeeping off my port
bow. Needless to say, I didn't want to become ensnared in the morass
of dumbass ducklings, so I nailed the loud pedal and shot ahead of the
cluster, then maintained speed long enough to leave them behind the
horizon.

BTW, I have a pretty good idea of how this enormous clump of ducklings
formed. It started with the lead minivan driver; as he caught up to
other vehicles, he slowed down to match their speed, absorbing them
into the cluster and causing it to grow larger - just like that 50's
sci-fi movie "The Blob." As more and more vehciles were absorbed, and
more and more faster traffic caught up from behind, the morass just
grew into the 20-odd-vehicle clusterfuck that unsuccessflly tried to
assimilate me.

That's fine - as long as he doesn't graduate to "Stalker."
