Flat Screen Monitor for Games?

Tlgtr 22 February 2005 18:56:36
I have been looking into a flat screen LCD to get more desk space...
Ih ave a freind who can get me a good deal on an Acer 1912...19" LCD
monitor. But the reviews I saw were a little 'ify' on it.... Anybody
know anything about this monitor or have any recomendations? I want at
least a 17" and would really like a 19" but cost is a serious
consideration.

TIA

I have some freinds who have tried some of the better SAMSUNG monitors, they
said the're still a tiny bit of a trade-off... they are slower than
monitors for sure (I am NOT as picky as they are), and expensive! for the
faster response time ones... biggest hint I was given was contast ratios
(clear/clarity of picture) then response times = kind of equates to speed of
drawing the pixels your vid card pumps out... if you card pumps out 2
screens refreshes before the monitor can draw them, you going to feel like
there is jittery movement you know...

tlgtr enlightened us with:> I have been looking into a flat screen LCD to get more desk space...> Ih ave a freind who can get me a good deal on an Acer 1912...19" LCD> monitor. I've been testing the screens that pass through our office (not aimed at
gaming at all) with racing sims and have never really had any issues with
any, other than a lack of contrast on a really cheap Philips 15" model.
However, those with responstimes of 110ms or more really ghost when one
scrolls webpages or other files with a lot of text in them across the
screen.

Just got a 19" Sceptre monitor for $404 including shipping and it is awsome!
It's the model called Gamer and has .12ms speed.

Racing sims don't seem so piccy, FPS's are ruined by slow response times.
IMO 16ms response time is crucial and 12ms for an FPS. I'm using a BenQ
FP937S and it's fabulous.

 Dave,

Weak warranty :(

"One-year limited warranty on parts, labor and backlight for units purchased
in the U.S. only. Three-year limited warranty on units purchased outside of
the U.S."

Nice monitor though!
